patios and walkways
Q. What are the benefits of a patio vs. a deck?
Due to the amount of moisture in our area, a wooden deck will eventually become slippery, moldy, and begin to rot; all of which will be costly and dangerous. A patio constructed from stone, pavers, or concrete will not have the constant maintenance problems and will be more aesthetically pleasing.
Q. What is the maintenance of a patio in comparison to a deck?
The maintenance on a patio is rather minimal when you consider the alternative. Annually a wooden deck is going to require cleaning, being treated with a sealant, repairs in the construction, and ultimately replacement of part or all of the deck.
Q. What is the cost comparison to build a wood deck to a patio?
If you were to get a construction bid, a patio will be slightly more expensive. However, a patio will cost less in the long run due to the extensive repair and maintenance required for a deck. Also a patio is a permanent structure that doesn't need replacement.
